Immerse yourself in the great variety of musical forms for which this region is known on Saturday afternoon, May 21. At the Sounds of the South Concert in the Morial Convention Center, you’ll have an experience like no other as you listen to the music of a traditional New Orleans brass band, learn the Cajun two-step, clap your hands and feel the spirit with a gospel choir, sing the blues with New Orleans’ finest, and lose your heart all over again to New Orleans jazz in the very place where jazz was born.
Dr. Michael White, one of the world’s premiere jazz clarinetists, will lead his Original Liberty Jazz Band in a program of traditional New Orleans jazz music dating back to the early days of the 20th century. Topsy Chapman’s women’s gospel group "Sweet Harmony" will touch your soul with their heartfelt songs of praise and glory. For the moaning dark sounds of the Blues, you will thrill to guitarist and vocalist Les Getrex and his band. Cajun music is known the world over for its unique sound and its "get up and dance" rhythm and you’ll be on your feet swaying to the harmonies of Bruce Daigrepont and some of the greatest Cajun musicians from southwest Louisiana.

THE UNIQUE AND SPECTACULAR RESTUARANTS OF THE FRENCH QUARTER
On Tuesday night, The French Quarter Dining Experience offers Rotarians the opportunity to sample the restaurant cuisine which makes New Orleans famous worldwide. Our unique mixture of Creole, African, Caribbean, Spanish, French, and American cultures has created a culinary palette unmatched in the United States. Restaurants such as Arnaud’s (1918), Antoine’s (1840), Broussard’s (built in 1824), the Court of Two Sisters (built in 1830) and Tujaque’s (1859) have worked with the HOC to create special classic New Orleans menus for an extraordinary evening of Rotary culinary fellowship.
Rotarians will be given their choice of restaurants in the historic French Quarter within a short walk or taxi ride from Rotary hotels. You may reserve tables in groups or singles and be seated with fellow Rotarians from around the globe. Restaurants accommodate special requests for vegetarian and non-pork menu selections.
We’ve made it easy for you to experience what the world has heard about New Orleans: incomparable food and exuberant moving music, all on the shores of the mighty Mississippi River. Combine this with the fellowship provided by Rotarians whose ability to throw a great party is part of both their genetic make-up and cultural heritage, and you will leave New Orleans saying, "Now THAT was a convention to remember!"
